CMHA Waterloo Wellington celebrates National Caregiver Day
Apr 5, 2022
Today, CMHA Waterloo Wellington joins individuals and organizations across the country in celebrating National Caregiver Day.
National Caregiver Day is intended to honour caregivers — the millions of parents, children, siblings, spouses and friends who provide unpaid care to support someone with a diminishing physical ability, a debilitating cognitive condition or a chronic life-limiting illness.
According to Carers Canada, the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the demand for caregivers in Canada, resulting in added strain to their role and impacting their mental health. CMHA Waterloo Wellington offers free webinars to support your mental health as a caregiver, our Eating Disorders program has a Family and Friends Education and Support Group, Parents for Children’s Mental Health has a support group for parents and caregivers, 1st Step Psychosis also has support for loved ones, and our Self Help and Peer Support services offer groups for supporters.
CMHA Ontario and branches around the province also provide programs and services to support mental wellness, such as Living Life to the Full, BounceBack, counselling, information on stress management, and much more.
