Mental Health Week May 6-12, 2024
Apr 24, 2024
We all have the capacity to be compassionate, and we know that doing so can make an enormous difference. This year’s Mental Health Week is centered on the healing power of compassion. In a world plagued by suffering, we emphasize that kindness is equally intrinsic to our humanity. Join us from May 6 to 12, 2024 to explore how compassion connects us all.
This is what we have planned locally:
At each of our sites across Waterloo Wellington we are encouraging our staff and community to write a note of kindness through a Note to Self or a Note to Others on a sticky note in our reception areas.
Monday May 6th at noon: Join us for a Free webinar on Challenging Negative Thinking. Click here to register.
Tuesday May 7th at 9:30am: We are offering safeTALK (suicide alertness for everyone) a workshop that prepares participants to identify and engage people with thoughts of suicide and connect them with further help and care. We are offering this training at a discounted rate for Mental Health Week: Use the promo code BeKind to save 50% on regular admission price! Register here.
Tuesday May 7th at 7pm: Join us for a Free Community Webinar on Fostering a Culture of Kindness and Compassion to Ourselves and Others. Hosted by CMHA Waterloo Wellington’s Family Council. You will hear from Dr. Jeremy Goldberg, a writer/poet, compassion cultivating, day-making change agent. A Ph.D. scholar with more than 20 scientific publications, Jeremy spent 5 years studying the science of behavior change, specifically how attitudes affect action and how we can communicate to inspire more significant and lasting impacts, both individually and collectively. Saturday May 11th: The perfect conclusion to Mental Health Week is The Shopper’s Run for Women in Support of CMHA WW. Join over 1,400 participants as we walk and run at Conestoga College, Doon Campus. When you participate in the Run for Women – Waterloo you are telling the women in your life and community they are not alone, recovery is possible and we’re in this together.
We are so grateful to Staebler Insurance for matching donations up to $5,000 for our upcoming Run for Women! Donate today and you will have twice the impact thanks to Staebler Insurance.
