Who is this service for?
This school program is for children 7 to 12 years of age with mental health difficulties. Those difficulties significantly affect their success in school.
The Gateway Program in Guelph is for children from 10 to 12 years of age (grades 5 to 7). They live in Guelph or Wellington County.
The Pathway Program in Centre Wellington is for children from 7 to 9 years of age (grades 2 to 4). They live in Guelph or Wellington County.
What supports do we offer in this service?
- The Gateway Program is in a classroom at one school. The Pathway Program is in a classroom at another school.
- All the children in the Gateway and Pathway classrooms receive this service.
- Each classroom has a teacher and mental health worker.
- We help a child feel comfortable and take part in school in meaningful ways.
- We provide programming that focuses on life skills, self-regulation, problem-solving, relationships, and conflict resolution.
- We provide academic programming.
- We include caregivers in a child’s treatment plan through a caregiver group, meetings, and work with the school team.
- We plan a child’s transition back to their community school after treatment.
How do I access this service?
- This is only available when your child is already in another CMHA WW children’s service.
- Talk to the person at CMHA WW who already works with your child.
- If someone at CMHA WW does not already work with your child/youth:
- Start with a Single Session. A Single Session is an opportunity for a family to meet once with a Mental Health Clinician to explore the need for services.
- In Guelph
- Attend the Children’s Walk-In Service for a Single Session.
- The Walk-In Service is every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- The location is the CMHA WW office at 737 Woolwich Street, Guelph.
- In the County

- The Single Session will be at a CMHA WW office in the County.
- In Guelph

“CMHA WW” means Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington.
“Caregiver” means parent, caregiver, guardian.
