We are recruiting for a PSYCHIATRIST (FACT)
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) based in Guelph, ON.
The position will deliver direct and indirect psychiatric services to the Flexible Assertive Community Treatment Team.
Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) is a recovery-oriented, evidence-based best practice. A FACT team is comprised of a interdisciplinary team of clinicians monitoring clients with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) in a specific catchment area – that is, both those for whom traditional assertive community treatment (ACT) is indicated and a larger majority of clients on the team who need less intensive treatment and support. To combine care for these two groups, the FACT team employs a flexible switching system where the intensity of services can be ramped up or ramped down as needed depending on individual client need. This combination of flexibility and continuity provides better opportunities for recovery and rehabilitation and ties in well with the natural course of SPMI with its recurring episodes and relapses.
Key areas of focus:
- Serious mental health conditions requiring long term support and treatment.
- Concurrent disorder and addictions competency and experience.
- Willing to work with homeless outreach population in a team-based approach.
- Based in Guelph.
- Will require working in a collaborative team-based approach.
- Interest in actively supporting educational activities and an academic teaching appointment is an asset.
- Will contribute to accreditation activities, with Accreditation Canada, and also with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- May require use of OTN in the course of service delivery.
The incumbent requires:
- FRCP(C) in Psychiatry and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Experience in psychiatric specialties (adult psychiatry, addictions, serious and persistent mental illness) would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team(s)
- Commitment to community-based services
- Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
- Highly developed organizational, communication and problem solving skills
- Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook and various database software
- Valid driver’s license and own transportation as travel will be required
