Waterloo Wellington Neighbours: Connecting Older Adults to Community Supports

The Waterloo Wellington Neighbours Program aims to educate local community members to be change-makers by helping to identify vulnerable and at-risk older adults.

The Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington and local partners, with funding from the United Way Waterloo Region, are offering education sessions for community members, businesses and service providers. The sessions will take place virtually and will take approximately 1 hour.

In this program, participants will learn how to identify at-risk and vulnerable older adults, and how to connect older adults to community supports by a simple phone call.  We will cover topics of risk, including forms of elder abuse.

Who should attend:

Everyone who cares about at-risk and vulnerable older adults, seniors, and community wellbeing. This could include community members, service providers, volunteers, hair-dressers, janitors, bank tellers, postal workers, neighbors, etc.

We are delivering education sessions in the Waterloo Wellington Region on an ongoing basis. While we hope to provide these sessions in person, for the time being, they will be offered virtually.  If you would like to attend an education session as an individual or set up a session at your place of employment, please email
