Understanding Human Trafficking: Building on Our Knowledge
This presentation will give participants tools to address the risk of sex trafficking by helping young people build resilience. We’ll give a brief overview of the basics of human trafficking and then cover topics such as: resilience factors, how to determine what needs might be going unmet by the young people in your life, how to talk to young people about consent and healthy relationships, safety planning and pathways to support for youth. We’ll draw on real world examples and case studies to give parents and caregivers an idea of how trafficking happens and how young people can find support around it. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion and question period of community partners.
