The Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington (CMHA WW) and Shoppers Drug Mart welcomed 1,200 participants and raised $160,000 on Saturday, May 13th at Conestoga College – Doon Campus during the annual Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women.

“Local mental health support for women in our community is vital, and we are thankful for the continued support from organizations like Shoppers Drug Mart and our community,” says Helen Fishburn, CEO, CMHA Waterloo Wellington. “Our mission at CMHA WW is working to build a community in which everyone has what they need to live meaningful lives. Every dollar that has been raised by participants supports mothers, daughters, and friends in our community in taking the next step to recovery. Initiatives like the Shopper’s Run for Women help our organization deliver and expand programs that provide women with the unique support they need.”

Fundraisers are the heart and soul of the Shopper’s Run for Women. Our Top Fundraiser this year was Ellie Hook, who has managed to raise over $6,268 in support of women’s mental health programs. “I know firsthand the impact of mental health can have. Every one of us has been affected directly or indirectly by mental health, says Run for Women top fundraiser Ellie Hook “The services offered by CMHA WW provide the support and resources needed through these challenges. I fundraise in the annual Run for Women to show my support for women facing challenges. I encourage everyone to keep the conversation going and raise funds for mental health, lets join together and make a difference.”

This year’s top team was ATS Canada 2023 with 29 team members; they raised over $3,360 for this year’s run. ATS Corporation also generously sponsored the 10KM run/walk. Thank you to all our incredible local sponsors, including ATS Corporation, The 1KM for kids sponsored by BlackBerry, the 5KM run/walk sponsored by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc., and the Children’s Activity area sponsored by Booster Juice.

Great races don’t happen without great volunteers, thank you to the 73 community members who helped make the Shopper’s Run for Women such a success!
