I am proud of working with a group of people who are interested in making a difference in other people’s lives. The staff here, are so invested in helping others on whatever journey they may be on in their stage of life. Through our lifetime, we may not see the bright blue skies, or that silver lining within those dark clouds, but, there is someone here in our organization that will help guide you, to see the sunny blue skies and that bright silver lining. Because we all deserve to have a smile on our face each day.

1. What is involved in your role?

I work in the Finance Department and provide corporate services to CMHA. My role in the Finance includes developing policies to ensure we are in compliance with our funder requirements while being able to provide the quality service within our communities. I also manage the finances for the supportive housing program. I am also involved with CMHA WW fundraising events, and donations received from our generous supporters. I ensure our donations go towards the programs, services, or initiatives that our donors have designated their funds to.

2. What brought you to CMHA?

I was interested in CMHA, because the organization believes in building a community through human connections, something I also believe in. It really takes a community to be able to manage through the various journeys we have in life. Those who know me, know how involved I am in the community serving, teaching and helping anywhere I can.   I am able to utilize my administrative skills, and passion to help serve others.

3. How do you support people at CMHA in your role?

There are so many avenues that we support people through at CMHA. Having had the opportunity to attend various fundraising events for CMHA, I have been able to meet many people and connect with them and have conversations about mental health, this is important and something we should not be ashamed to talk about.

Within my role in the Finance Department for The Supportive Housing program, we will see some changes in the behavior pattern of clients through finances, such as a change in utility usage, payment methods have changed. This often triggers for us the need to reach out, to ensure the clients are doing ok and that we are meeting the supportive needs of those in our housing units. We will often work with the Coordinators to ensure the necessary follow up is being provided.

4. What are you proud of during your time at CMHA?

I have really enjoyed the mental health training I have received here at CMHA, I have been able to use what I learned when I am helping others in our community, as well as with family and friends. It has helped me learn to be a better communicator, learn how to understand others, and being able to understand how to use coping tools. With this, I am proud of working with a group of people who are interested in making a difference in other people’s lives.
