The recently launched Here4Healthcare website is a direct response to the significant mental health toll that treating COVID-19 is taking on our front line healthcare workforce and first responders. In this unprecedented time, it is crucial that our front line healthcare workers are supported with their mental health needs.
The new site prioritizes the needs of healthcare workers and links them to free psychiatry, crisis services, psychotherapy, support groups, as well as online virtual care and resources. It is being supported in part by the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation (KWCF), in response to applications received through the COVID-19 Community Response Fund at United Way Waterloo Region Communities.
CMHA Waterloo Wellington was fortunate to be one of 43 charities who received funding for COVID-19 initiatives. KWCF joined forces with United Way Waterloo Region Communities, Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region, the Astley Foundation, The Lyle S. Hallman Foundation, The Fairmount Foundation and Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation to maximize assistance for urgent and emerging community needs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On April 23 2020, the Funders’ Collaborative announced over $800,000 is being distributed to charities across Waterloo Region. The list of other organizations who received funding can be viewed here.
