CMHA WW statement on systemic racism

The events of the past few weeks have brought to the forefront the years of systemic racism and trauma inflicted on the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) population in our society. These events have allowed us all of us to pause, reflect and learn about our contribution to the inequities in our communities.

CMHA WW is strongly opposed to racism, and are determined to work to be a leader in the anti-oppression movement before us. “We work to build a community in which everyone has what they need to live meaningful lives. We build human connections that make it possible for people to achieve their greatest potential. We inspire and support people in achieving the quality of life that they desire. We are there when you need someone” – this is the Mission of CMHA WW. At the core of this mission is the opportunity to build a community that is rooted in equity and inclusion, supportive of diversity and actively opposes the forces of oppression.

The people of our organization are using this opportunity to listen, reflect, learn, and commit to a change. We will work with our community to understand how best to make this important difference, and action it for lasting improvement.

We support and stand with the Black Lives Matter movement.
