CMHA WW celebrates National Nursing Week

On this National Nursing Week (May 8-14), CMHA Waterloo Wellington recognizes the important work of its many nurses in providing care to clients in the community.

Over 30 nurses serve the community at CMHA WW, playing an integral role in assessing, treating, monitoring, and following up with clients to ensure they are receiving the proper care and treatment.

Nurses at CMHA WW work with clients as part of many of our programs and services including: Adult Services, Children’s Services, Eating Disorders, FACT, Specialized Crisis, Seniors – Geriatric Outreach, First Step, Support Coordination, and Emergency Department Diversion.

“In our country each day, nurses provide safe, quality care and advocate on behalf of their patients and clients,” Barb Shellian, president of the Canadian Nurses Association, said in a statement.

“Nurses also promote health and wellness, lead research and innovations, address health and social inequities, and carry out important work in the public interest. All this has a real impact on the lives of Canadians and on the health-care system.

“I encourage the public, governments, organizations and nurses to take a moment this week to celebrate all nurses and the profession of nursing — a profession that truly contributes to positive outcomes for patients, clients, families and communities.”
