CMHA Waterloo Wellington joins individuals and organizations around the globe in celebrating International Self-Care Day on July 24, which aims to raise public awareness of the importance of self-care to stay healthy and prevent or delay illness.
A self-care task should not be big or complicated – in fact, when energy and resolve is low, it’s important to make it as simple as possible. If you are wondering where to start, CMHA Ontario’s 15 minutes just for you resource is filled with self-care strategies and tips. Each tip only takes 15 minutes and is designed to help boost your mental, emotional, physical, social or spiritual health.
Prioritizing self-care can increase resiliency, which can be helpful when faced with problems, stress, and other difficult situations. CMHA Waterloo Wellington offers many free webinars to improve your mental wellbeing, including Physical Health for Mental Health, The Power of Mindfulness and Gratitude, click here to view our upcoming events. CMHA Waterloo Wellington has also partnered with McDougall Cottage on a Resiliency Exhibit:
Anchored in the history of the 165-year-old Cottage, the exhibit features a multimedia journey of shared personal stories of resiliency. Each story offers resources and strategies to help our community bounce back from life’s challenges. Working with local organizations like CMHA WW and others, McDougall Cottage offers additional programing to support mental health and well-being. Virtual and in-person events cover topics including self-esteem, mindfulness, self-care and more. There are many ways to build resiliency – it is not one size fits all. We all have the ability to bounce back from challenges. The Resiliency exhibit and extended programming gives people a chance to explore what works for them.
