Why Do I Volunteer? By Emily #NVW2019

My name is Emily and I have been volunteering at CMHAWW for just over a year now. I have volunteered as a group facilitator in their ”Strengthening Families” program, respite worker to community members in need of additional support and am hoping to take on a new role in their mental health promotion team. I chose to volunteer at CMHA WW because I believe in supporting the community and promoting mental health. CMHA WW has been very supportive to me in reaching my own goals such as paying for training, emotional support and providing me with new opportunities to learn and grow. I believe volunteers can make a huge difference in the lives of community members and can learn a great deal by volunteering. Volunteering is so important because it ensures there is support when that may not have been possible. Volunteering can also be very rewarding in moments when you see change occur even if that just means you have put a smile on someone’s face. I encourage anyone who is reading this to support their community and get out there and volunteer!
