CMHA WW Offering Educational Series for Family Members Supporting Adult Loved Ones with a Mental Illness

Loved ones can play a big part in helping a person with a mental illness recover, work towards their goals, and stay well. Care and emotional support go a long way in recovery and well-being. So can practical help, like managing doctor’s appointments and other daily tasks such as financial planning.
Beginning in March the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington is offering educational opportunities for family members supporting adult loved ones with a mental illness in Guelph and Wellington County. There are no wait lists to attend these sessions and you can attend the topics that are important to you that fit within your schedule.
Initial sessions include:
Financial Planning – March 5, 2020:
- Protecting ODSP & Assets
- Disability Tax Credits
- Registered Disability
Understanding Medication – April 1, 2020:
- What are medications for?
- How do they work?
- What are some common side effects?
Understanding Substance and Technology Use – April 27, 2020:
- Substance and/or technology overuse concern
