The Canadian Mental Health Association WW is pleased to host a free MHFA workshop on Saturday March 23rd and 30th from 9:30am – 5:00pm. This free training has been funded through the Family Initiatives Project. Attendance both days is required, and snacks and lunch will be provided. This training is intended to increase capacity and understanding for family members supporting a loved one with a mental health issue. It is not intended for professionals working in the field. There will be a short phone call for screening purposes following Eventbrite registration.

Location: Disclosed to approved registrants during phone call screening process after registering online
Mental Health First Aid Basic is a 12-hour course focused on adults interacting with adults in all environments. The course discusses the following mental disorders:
- Substance related disorders
- Mood related disorders
- Anxiety and trauma related disorders
- Psychotic disorders
Crisis first aid skills for the following situations are learned:
- Substance overdose
- Suicidal behaviour
- Panic attack
- Acute stress reaction
- Psychotic episode

** Space is limited. You must pre-register on Eventbrite and be accepted into the training through a screening process. This is to ensure you meet the criteria for The Family Initiatives Project funding. You will receive a phone call one to two weeks after registering on Eventbrite
A certificate of completion will be mailed directly from The Mental Health Commission of Canada approximately 6-8 weeks after the course. The Commission will email each participant requesting address information for the mailing.
